Wilbur L. and L. Helen Pearson Leadership at Home Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship Description: The Scholarship shall be restricted to Pepperdine students who are pursuing their first doctoral degree and who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Global Leadership and Change program at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Preference shall be given first to unmarried students raising minor children and second priority given to married students raising minor children.
If there are no students enrolled in the PhD in Global Leadership and Change program who meet this criteria, then the Scholarship may be given to students pursuing their first doctoral degree who are enrolled in the Education Doctoral Degree program at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology, with first priority given to unmarried students raising minor children and second priority given to married students raising minor children.
If there are no students in the Doctor of Philosophy in Global Leadership and Change program or Education Doctoral Degree program who meet the preferred criteria, then no scholarship shall be awarded that year and efforts shall be taken to recruit qualifying students to the program.
Scholarship applicants must submit a 500-word essay addressing their thoughts on “leadership in the home as it relates to leadership in the world.” The essay shall be taken into consideration by the selection committee when selecting the award recipient.
The selected Scholarship recipient shall receive the Scholarship payout for three consecutive years and, as such, a new recipient will be selected every three years. The scholarship award shall be used for tuition and, if the student’s entire tuition is paid for, other expenses, including but not limited to books, room, board, bills and food. Recipients must be in good standing in all areas of Pepperdine. Selection of students who meet the qualifying criteria shall be at the discretion of Pepperdine.
