GSEP Marco Garcia Memorial Fellowship Scholarship
Salutation: Dear Mr. and Mrs. Garcia;
Description of Scholarship: The Enrique and Lucy Garcia Family Foundation established the scholarship in memory of their beloved son, Marco Garcia (1973-1995), who noticed a substantial need for more Mexican-American psychologists. The scholarship was instituted to celebrate and remember Marco’s life, spirit, and vision. Their oldest son was a very talented and gifted artist and musician with a devotion to social activism. Marco made quite an impact and touched many people during his short life and he continues to do so in spirit. It is hoped that the Marco Garcia Memorial Fellowship will help him continue to “touch” and impact the lives of others while helping to fill a need in the mental health field.The scholarship applicant must be enrolled full-time in a Psychology program (100% online Psychology at Pepperdine are not eligible) and must be Mexican or Mexican-American. The student must also be enrolled for the subsequent spring trimester as the funding is awarded in the spring term.
